Suspect wanted for choking woman inside Queens train station: NYPD

FOREST HILLS, Queens – Police are looking for a suspect wanted for choking a female subway rider that was trying to run away from him.

The incident happened on June 25, at about 9:30 p.m.

The NYPD said a woman, 21, was on a northbound E train when she got into an argument with Akeem Murphy, 33. They exited the train at the Queens Boulevard and Union Turnpike station, where Murphy allegedly slapped her face.

Trying to escape, she ran up the stairs toward the turnstiles where he grabbed her from behind and started to choke her, before running away to an unknown direction, according to police.

Murphy is about 5 feet 10 inches tall, has black hair, brown eyes and medium complexion. He was last seen wearing a Du-rag, blue sneakers, purple shirt and black jeans.
