NEW YORK — New Jersey Transit service is back on or close to schedule into and out of New York Penn Station following an earlier Amtrak switch problem, the agency said Thursday.

Commuters were warned about 3 p.m. to expect delays up to 45 minutes through the transit hub and expect overcrowding as a result of the delays.

By 5 p.m., normal service had resumed, according to NJ Transit.
