Man punches NYPD cop in face before fleeing in East Williamsburg

EAST WILLIAMSBURG, Brooklyn — Police are searching for a man who punched an officer in the face while he was being being arrested in East Williamsburg Friday night.

Police was attempting to place Brian Ackwood, 25, under arrest in front of 413 Bushwick Avenue at 9:56 p.m., police said. Ackwood then punched the officer in the face and fled the area towards a Bushwick housing development.

The officer suffered a laceration to his left eye, police said.

Ackwood is described as 6-feet tall with black hair and dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a blue baseball cap, black sneakers and dark blue shirt.
