Man who attempted to kidnap girl in Brooklyn on the loose: NYPD

GRAVESEND, Brooklyn — A man who grabbed an 11-year-old girl and allegedly attempted to kidnap her as she walked home from school in Brooklyn was being sought by police on Friday.

The young girl was returning home from school and walking near Highlawn Avenue and West Seventh Street around 2:50 p.m. Wednesday when the man approached her and grabbed her shoulder and school bag, according to police.

The man allegedly told her to come with him, but she fought him off. He then ran away, police said.

The news release described the man as white, 25 to 30 years old and 6-feet tall. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, black hoodie, gray sweatpants and black sneakers.

He can be seen in photos that police obtained and released to the public.
