CONCOURSE, The Bronx — A 3-year-old girl is dead Monday after she was struck by a car near her Bronx home while walking to school with her mother, police said.

Mariam Dansoko was walking about 8 a.m. at East 164th Street and Gerard Avenue when the driver of a 2014 Nissan turned left onto 164th Street and hit her, police said.

The victim's mother told PIX11 News her daughter said "the car is coming" seconds before she was struck. But before Dansoko's mother could turn around, the car had struck the girl.

The 21-year-old driver stayed at the scene and there are no arrests at this time, police said.

Dansoko suffered trauma to her body and was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead, NYPD said.
