KINGSBRIDGE, The Bronx — Twelve people, four of them firefighters, were injured in a house fire in the Bronx Saturday evening.

The fire broke out at the two-story home around 6:30 p.m. in a home at 2736 University Ave. in the Kingsbridge section of the borough, according to FDNY. It started on the first floor and quickly spread to the second floor and attic. One family was living in the home.

By the time firefighters arrived, heavy fire took over the house and it grew to two alarms.

Officials say four firefighters sustained minor injuries. Eight civilians were injured as well. There were no serious injuries reported.

The FDNY said they are unsure how many people lived in the two-story home, but they are being taken care of by the Red Cross.

It's still unclear how the fire started.
