JERSEY CITY -- When is a parking place not a parking place?

The sign on Sherman Place at Summit Avenue in Jersey City says there's no parking from the sign to the corner. But there's a fire hydrant next to the sign.

Parking there is a violation.

Driver Dave Lopez usually parks in his apartment complex. But one night, he had to find a space on the street. He saw a space and parked by the sign. He woke up to find a ticket.

He says the city should move the sign to make it completely clear there's no parking within 10 feet of the hydrant.
