LONGWOOD, Fla. — A family dog jumped into action and led firefighters to two children that were trapped in a burning home Monday night in a Florida suburb, according to WFLA.

The Feaser family was asleep when the fire engulfed their home in Longwood.

Margo Feaser, a 12-year veteran of the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, and her husband were pulled to safety through a window by firefighters. Their two children, ages 2 and 4, were still trapped inside the burning house, WFLA reported.

Maxx, the family's German shepherd, jumped in and helped firefighters find the children in their smoke-filled bedrooms.

The Feaser family all survived the fire and were taken to the hospital. They were treated for burns and smoke inhalation, but are in stable condition, according to WFLA.

Maxx was also treated for smoke inhalation at a local vet.

A GoFundMe page was set up for the family to help them get back on their feet as they recover from their injuries.
