SETAUKET, N.Y. — Police say a body found on Long Island has been identified as Gerson Salmon-Negron, a 23-year-old Queens man who went missing after a small plane crash.

Suffolk County Police say the body was found on a beach in Setauket Harbor Monday morning.

Salmon-Negron was a passenger in a plane that went down in Setauket Harbor in February.

Authorities say a student pilot was flying to Long Island from Fitchburg, Massachusetts when the plane apparently ran out of fuel. The plane crash-landed in the harbor between Port Jefferson and Setauket.

The flight instructor, student, and another passenger on board were rescued that night.
