Crime Stoppers tip leads to arrest in Bleecker Street subway slashing

NOHO, Manhattan — Police have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with a slashing at a Bleecker Street subway station.

Marvin Taylor, 24, was picked up near Crotona Park around 9 p.m., Sunday night.

Police say they found Taylor from a Crime Stoppers tip.

The slashing happened Friday morning on the southbound 6 train platform.

Police say Taylor approached the 55-year-old victim and allegedly began cutting open the victim's pockets.

When the victim tried to fight back, he suffered slash wounds to his hands, arm and neck. He was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

Taylor was arrested and charged with robbery, assault and criminal possession of a weapon. He has 15 prior arrests.
