NEW YORK — It’s finally that time of the year to scream for free ice cream — it’s Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry’s.

On Tuesday from 12 to 8 p.m., anyone who stops by a Ben & Jerry’s will receive a cone of their favorite ice cream flavor for free.

For more than 30 years, the ice cream chain has been celebrating the holiday and giving its customers free ice cream. It first started in Burlington, Vermont, in 1979 but has now become an unofficial global holiday.

But be prepared for long lines. Last year, the chain said it handed out more than 1 million scoops of ice cream around the world.

Ice cream lovers will be able to select from a slew of flavors, including Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Cherry Garcia and Chocolate Fudge Brownie.
