NEW YORK – Legendary diver Greg Louganis, winner of five Olympic medals – four gold, one silver – received a long overdue honor by General Mills.

Louganis along with swimmer Janet Evans and hurdler Edwin Moses are landing on the cover of a Wheaties cereal box decades after their Olympic-champion careers ended.

Louganis, who is openly gay and HIV-positive, told PIX11 the distinction is sweeter now in the present.

"It means more to me now than it could've back then," Louganis said. "I think it's wonderful."

General Mills says the trio will be honored on cereal boxes as part of the Wheaties Legends series. The boxes will be on stores shelves in the U.S. in May.
