Long Island man with cognitive brain disorder missing

WEST ISLIP, N.Y — Loved ones are searching for a man who police say may be in need of medical attention because of a cognitive brain disorder and suicidal thoughts.

James Gitzinger, 50 of West Islip was last seen at 9 a.m. on Saturday at his home on Doncaster Avenue in West Islip, according to Suffolk County Police.

Gitzinger was driving a 2010 white Cadillac Escalade with NY registration CCU-1467, police said.

He was last seen wearing a tank top, grey hooded sweatshirt, dark sweatpants and sneakers, police said. He is 6 feet tall 220 pounds.

James may be in need of medical attention, police said.
