MANHATTAN -- The New York International Auto Show kicked off Friday. Car companies from across the globe are showcasing their newest models.

PIX11 News checked out some of the rarest and most expensive luxury cars at the show.

The One:1 Koenigsegg from Sweden costs $3 million.

“We’ve only made 6 of them,” Koenigsegg sales director Tariq Ali said.

There is only one in the United States. And Ali said the company had to bring it up from Miami for the show. There is no plan to manufacture any more. But according to Ali, the Koenigsegg Regera is available for presale. It’s just over $2 million.

What’s the allure of gawking at an insanely expensive car that you will never, ever drive? It’s the novelty, according to car show visitor and auto enthusiast Nick Wright. He came from Pennsylvania to get a look at the high-end cars.

“I’ve never even seen half these cars in person. So it’s kinda cool to look at them,” Wright said.

One vehicle you will occasionally see on the street is a Bentley. Their new SUV is called the Bentayga.

“It’s the most expensive SUV in the high-end luxury market,” Adam Weinstein of Manhattan Motor Cars said.
According to Weinstein, it can go from 0 to 60 mph in 4 seconds. The dealership already has a presale waiting list for the $235,000 SUV.

Nicole Quiles, 11, loves the auto show, even though she is years away from having a driver’s license. “I just want to see the really fancy ones,” she said.

The New York International Auto Show is now open to the public and is scheduled to run through Sunday, April 3.
