Man in custody after allegedly stabbing woman, setting Staten Island house on fire

STATEN ISLAND -- A man is in custody after allegedly stabbing a woman then setting the house on fire on Staten Island, according to EMS.

Police say they received a domestic assault call around 3 p.m. about a man who had barricaded himself with a knife. Authorities responded to 271 Nicholas Ave. to find a woman stabbed and the two-story house on fire.

The woman was transported to Richmond University Medical Center in serious condition.

The man was taken into custody. Police say charges are pending.
