DITMAS PARK, Brooklyn — A slasher who hid behind an American flag bandana and allegedly attacked a woman as she walked in Brooklyn two weeks ago has been arrested, police say.

Gregory Alfred, 25, was apprehended in Sayreville, New Jersey Saturday night and is awaiting extradition, police sources say.

The victim, 53, was slashed March 10 at Beverley and Rugby roads in Prospect Park South.

The victim was not seriously injured.

Alfred was wearing a black sweatshirt and an American flag over his face during the attack, the victim told detectives.

Police sources say fingerprints on the American flag and large kitchen knife helped police identify the suspect.

It’s the latest in a spate of similar slashings that have occurred throughout the city during the past few months.
