The incident happened in the vicinity of Roberts and Mahan avenues in Pelham Bay around 7 p.m. Wednesday.

When they arrived on the scene they found a car with two flat tires and its airbags deployed.

Police say it appears an aerosol can with a detonator exploded under the car while it was in motion. They found another detonator nearby, but it did not go off.

Police say two people were in the car at the time of the blast. They were not hurt.

The investigation is ongoing.
