Firefighters investigating 4-alarm blaze in Newark vacant building

NEWARK, N.J. — Firefighters are investigating what sparked a large fire in a Newark vacant building Sunday evening.

The fire broke out in a 3-story building at 318-320 Runyon St., around 9 p.m. The fire quickly grew to 4-alarms, spreading to neighboring buildings.

By 9:50, the fire was placed under control.

It's unknown if anyone was injured.

Officials say 17 people were displaced by the fire.
