UPPER WEST SIDE, Manhattan – Police say a mugger stabbed a man on the Upper West Side street Thursday afternoon.
Authorities said the victim, 33, was walking west on West 88th Street near Columbus Avenue around 4 p.m. when a suspect approached him from behind. The man pressed a sharp object into his lower back and demanded that the victim empty his pockets before fleeing the scene, taking his e-reader and headphones, according to police.
The victim was taken to St. Luke's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
This is at least the third person knifed in the last 24 hours.
Earlier today, a man was cut up across the face while just waiting in line in SoHo. Mere blocks away, on Wednesday, a restaurant worker was slashed after kicking out a customer of a diner.
