Dog shoved out of car on Long Island gets hit while chasing after driver

MORICHES, New York – A heartless driver shoved a dog out of the passenger-side door and drove away as the abandoned pet tried to get back in, according to the Suffolk County SPCA.

A witness says the tan-and-white mix ran after the car, an older model green Jeep Grand Cherokee, trying to get in on the driver’s side door.

As the dog chased the vehicle down Jerusalem Hollow Road near the Crystal Pond Apartments in Moriches, a car heading in the opposite direction struck the pooch.

Incredibly, the dog suffered only bruises.  After a trip to the see the veterinarian, the pup is now being taken care of by the Suffolk County SPCA.

A $2,000 reward is being offered for anyone with information about the incident, which happened around 4 p.m. Jan. 18.
