NEW YORK — A picture of an animal appeared on Reddit that has everyone asking — Is it a bear or a dog?

The picture first gained attention when Buzzfeed reporter Rachel Zarrell posted it on her Instagram. On Reddit and Imgur, users debated whether it was really a bear or a dog…or both.

“I believe you, but if you’re lying, this is way too convincing to not specify. This is a bear right? Guys??” one person commented.

“Dog. For me it’s the eyes that give it away,” another wrote.

“Hybrid.”

“Seriously though is that a dog? Because I Have my doubts….” someone else on Reddit wrote.

And the confusion ensued. What probably threw many people off was the photo’s caption: “Somebody brought this bear into doggie day care.”

The original poster did answer one of the Reddit comments and said the owner of the bear/dog confirmed it was a Pomeranian. Even that Redditer, though, was a little skeptical. Screen Shot 2016-01-04 at 9.13.29 PM

Buzzfeed finally found the owner of the mysterious animal and confirmed it is a dog. The owner, Elizabeth Maguyon, of Georgia, told the website the dog is a Pomeranian mix.
