NEWARK, N.J. — TSA caught a third person in less than a month trying to bring a gun through Newark Liberty International Airport.

A TSA agent detected the .45 caliber handgun under the x-ray machine at a security checkpoint Monday evening.

The firearm was found inside the New Jersey man’s carry-on bag. He was ticketed to fly to Dallas. The second suspect trying to sneak a firearm into Newark Airport this month was also flying to Texas.

Port Authority Police confiscated the gun, and arrested the man on a state weapons charge.

The arrest did not delay other flights.

Only three days earlier, on December 19, a loaded .39 caliber handgun was caught in a carry-on bag under the x-ray machine.

Two weeks before, on December 5, a loaded .25 was also caught by TSA officers.
