ALPINE, N.J. – A state-wide police chase in New Jersey that extended into New York City ended with three people being placed in custody.

It started overnight in Passiac County when cops followed a stolen vehicle with three people inside – two women and one man, police sources said.

The car traveled at a high-rate of speed on the Palisades Parkway before entering the George Washington Bridge and then returning into New Jersey to Alpine,  where the suspects exited the vehicle and apparently fired at police officers.

After a brief shootout between both parties, cops apprehended the suspects. No word if anyone was injured throughout the exchange.

Multiple agencies, including the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey were involved.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
