EAST HARLEM — A 2-year-old Harlem boy’s death was reclassified as a homicide Wednesday, police said.

The cause of death is “blunt force abdominal trauma with liver and spleen lacerations,” said Julie Bolcer, a spokeswoman for the medical examiner’s office.

Rashid Washington was found unresponsive on the morning of March 20.

His mother told police when she woke up she heard the toddler fall and he started moaning.

She put him back to bed and later in the morning noticed he wasn’t breathing, police sources said.

She said she called 911 and asked her home health aid to provide CPR until paramedics arrived, sources said.

He was transported to Harlem Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
