CORONA, Queens – Two children and one adult were rushed to the hospital after being hit by a driver Wednesday afternoon in Queens.

The incident, which happened near Junction Blvd and 55th Ave. in the Corona section, is now under investigation by the Highway Collision Investigation Squad.

Witnesses described a shocking scene, “A lady (was) laying on the floor with her leg . . . barely a leg there,” said Marisol Hernandez.  “There was a girl, maybe 2 or 3 years old.  She was in shock, laying there, it was really sad.”

All three were rushed to Elmhurst hospital, at least one is in critical condition.

Allen Petri, who goes through the same intersection daily to pick up his young children from a nearby daycare said, "I have never seen a crossing guard here, doesn’t mean they’re shirking their duty but they work halfway up the street."
