16-year-old Chinese exchange student groped, slashed in face while walking to Queens school

COLLEGE POINT, Queens – A teenage exchange student from China was slashed in the face while walking to school Wednesday morning, according to police.

The 16-year-old girl was walking on 13th Ave. near 147th Street around 8:15 a.m., on her way to Whitestone Academy, when an unidentified man attacked her from behind – groping her before slashing the girl twice in the face with a box cutter, leaving a gash from her ear to her throat.

He said nothing to the girl before the attack, and then fled on foot down 13th Ave. toward 146 Street, according to Chief Robert Boyce.  Police say the attacker was wearing a surgical mask and gloves.

Paramedics rushed her to Long Island Jewish Medical Center where she is in stable condition.

The victim has been in the country for eight months, according to police.

The suspect is described as a male last seen wearing a black hood and black stripes on the sleeves.
