Man, 22, killed in shooting near Newark police headquarters

NEWARK, N.J. — A Newark man shot near the city’s police headquarters has died from his injuries.

Authorities say officers responding to reports of shots fired found 22-year-old Najee Daniels in the area of Bergen Street and Clinton Avenue just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

Daniels was taken to a hospital where he died early Sunday.

Further details on the shooting have not been disclosed, including what type of weapon was used. A motive for the shooting also remains under investigation.

No arrests have been made.
