LOS ANGELES — Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson may seem like a super tough guy, but when it comes to a man's best friend — it turns out he's a big softie.

Not only does he have some of his own four-legged family members, but he also helps out other dogs in need.

When he heard about an abandoned 4-month-old puppy, named Dwayne The Rock Johnson, who needs life saving surgery, of course he had to step in.

Saving Spot shelter in Los Angeles, which is currently caring for the pup, said it named the dog after the action star because “he is going to need to be a great fighter to win this battle.”

Actress Michelle Trachtenberg brought the story to Johnson’s attention by tweeting a link about the 4-month-old puppy who was abandoned at a shelter with heavy wire wrapped around his mouth.

The wire was successfully removed and the pup was stitched up, but doctors discovered he had a health problem. He suffered from a severe heart murmur that required surgery.

Johnson responded to Trachtenberg's tweet and said he would help.

True to his word, Johnson donated $1,500 to the dog’s GoFundMe page in order to help meet the $5,000 goal.

The shelter updated their page on Wednesday, thanking the action star.
“Knowing that ‘The Rock’ has got Dwayne the puppy's back, we are confident he will be a fighter and make it through this,” Saving Spot shelter wrote.

“Thank you all for your generous donations — thanks to you we have met our goal.”
