MANCHESTER, U.K. — A young boy filled out his list for Santa Claus but his top choice will leave you devastated this holiday season.

Seven-year-old Christian, like many children his age during the lead up to Christmas, compiled a list of items or wishes he'd like to receive from Saint Nick.

Some of his picks inside his letter written in red marker included a "remote-control helicopter" and "FIFA 2016" video game.

His letter was posted to the Greater Manchester Police Department's Facebook page.

Christian and his mother Jayne, 30, were both shot on the doorstep of their home in Salford after answering the door to two men, police said.

They're both recovering after numerous surgeries but have a long road ahead.

"It is heart wrenching to know that a little boy who should be writing a list filled with exciting gifts, has got this at the top of his Christmas list," Detective Chief Superintendent Russ Jackson said.

"What happened to Christian will happen for the rest of the list but what we can do is try to make this up to him by finding those responsible and bringing them to justice."
