Batum’s 24 points lead Hornets over Nets, 116-111

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Nicolas Batum had 24 points and eight assists, and the Charlotte Hornets beat the Brooklyn Nets 116-111 on Wednesday night.

Al Jefferson and Kemba Walker chipped in with 18 points apiece for the Hornets, who have won six of their last nine games to get back to .500 on the season.

Marvin Williams scored 14 points and Jeremy Lin had 13 points and nine rebounds off the bench for the Hornets (6-6).

Thaddeus Young had 27 points on 11-of-17 shooting for the struggling Nets. Brook Lopez added 23 points and Jarrett Jack and Joe Johnson each had 16 for Brooklyn.

Batum bounced back from a 1-of-9 shooting night on Tuesday against the New York Knicks and returned to the form that earned him Eastern Conference player of the week last week. He was 7 of 12 from the field and made all seven foul shots.

Charlotte won despite 16 turnovers.
