Police responded to the shooting at an apartment at 306 E. 171st St. at 6:15 p.m. to find the teen with a gunshot wound to her face.

The girl was visiting the apartment and did not live there, authorities say. Her identity has not been released pending family notification.

There is no further information about how the shooting occurred.

Police are searching for 42-year-old Dale Weston, the gun owner of the firearm that may possibly linked to her shooting. He lived in the same apartment where the victim was fatally shot, cops said.

The investigation is ongoing.
