The mega popular video site YouTube went down briefly Wednesday afternoon.

YouTube.com started to generate a “500 Internal Server Error” around 12:30 p.m., with the message:

“Sorry, something went wrong.  A team of highly trained monkeys has been dispatched to deal with this situation.  If you see them, show them this information.”  What follows is an extensive block of letters and numbers.

Links to videos still appeared to function, but YouTube.com continued to give the error.  By 1:00 p.m. the site was back up.

YouTube hasn’t issued a statement on its Facebook or Twitter pages.
