FORDHAM, The Bronx — For a Fordham University student, losing her school ID may not be the worst inconvenience of the semester.

That's because, of all people, Tom Hanks picked up her wayward card while in the park -- he didn't say which one -- and posted a photo of the ID on Twitter, hoping to reunite it with its owner.

"Lauren! I found your Student ID in the park. If you still need it my office will get you. Hanx," the 59-year-old actor wrote Tuesday.

Within a couple hours, the message had been retweeted more than 3,000 times. And considering Hanks' sizable Twitter audience -- 10.4 million followers -- it didn't take long for someone to get in touch with him:

After finding a Fordham student's ID, Tom Hanks reached out to his sizable audience to locate the owner.
