NEW YORK – Mets ace Matt Harvey didn’t show up Tuesday at a mandatory workout after getting stuck in gridlock, according to reports.
General Manager Sandy Alderson had no answers as to his whereabouts during a press conference Tuesday afternoon, and reporters immediately began tweeting about the starter’s conspicuous absence.
With the Amazins’ set to play the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Division Series, Harvey missing a mandatory workout raised immediate speculation.
Turns out, according to Newsday’s Marc Carig, Harvey got stuck in traffic and couldn’t make it to the ballpark.
Harvey later told reporters “today was not the greatest,” saying that he “screwed up” and that there were no excuses.
