MANHATTAN — The NYPD is looking for a man accused of assaulting two police officers in Manhattan Friday afternoon.

Police responded to the report of a shoplifter at DSW on 14th Street around 4 p.m. where store officials say the suspect attempted to steal several items from the store.

As officers attempted to arrest the suspect, he began to fight with them — punching one of them in the face, police say.

Two officers and the suspect began to struggle, falling onto a clothing rack. The suspect was able to break free and fled the area.

Both officers were taken to Lenox Hospital. One officer suffered bruising to the face and the other with complaint of pain to the body from falling into the rack.

The suspect is described as a black man with short braids, wearing a yellow plaid shirt, brown hat and glasses.
