5 people injured after tree branch falls in Bryant Park

MIDTOWN, Manhattan --  Several people were injured when a tree branch fell in Bryant Park Friday afternoon.

The branch fell on at least five people at the 41st Street side of the park around 4 p.m. NYPD and FDNY are on the scene.

Two people with serious injuries are being transported to a local hospital. Three people with minor injuries are being treated at the scene.

FDNY reports the tree fell from about 8 feet up and was about 2-3 feet in circumference. NYPD with chainsaws are cutting up what was left of the tree and removing from the area.

Joe Carella with the Bryant Park Corporation told PIX11 they are still collecting information about the incident.
