MANHATTAN — The force is with New York City Star Wars fans who gathered in Times Square Friday morning with dancing stormtroopers for “Force Friday.”

Hundreds of fans were lined up at the Times Square Toys R’ Us just before midnight to get their hands on the new Star Wars merchandise.

The new merchandise is promoting the latest installment to the franchise, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

Star Wars fanatics could have ordered the items on Amazon, but there’s no fun in that. Fans were able to get light saber lessons and see storm troopers twerking at the store, CNN reports. Snapchat featured a clip of dance on the New York City snap story.

Walmart, Target and other retailers are also selling the new merchandise. More toys are expected to be added to stores closer to December, when the movie is set to be released.
