Islip woman, 67, arrested for DWI and possession of a gun

ISLIP, Long Island— Police arrested a 67-year-old woman for driving while drunk and having a loaded hand-gun in her car.

On August 8 around 10:30 p.m. a Farmingdale Trooper received a a report of an erratic tan pick-up truck on the eastbound side of the Southern State Parkway near exit 31, according to police.

The trooper found the the vehicle east of exit 33 and saw that the driver could not stay within the lanes and was continuously driving onto the shoulder and back onto the roadway.

According to police, the trooper pulled over the vehicle and noticed the the driver,  Susan Vassilev-Gugliotti, had a strong odor of alcohol and that her eyes were bloodshot and watery.

Vassilev-Gugliotti failed the sobriety tests and was arrested for DWI.  During the sobriety tests she kept attempting to walk back to her passenger side door but the trooper stopped her, police said.

After placing Vassilev-Gugliotti under arrest, the Trooper found a loaded handgun inside of her vehicle.

A breath sample revealed that she had a BAC of .21 percent. She is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon, DWI, and traffic violations.

She was held for arraignment in Suffolk County First District Court.
