THE BRONX– From a little town in the Dominican Republic to the bright lights in New York City, 21-year-old pitcher Luis Severino knew this day would come.
He pitches again on Tuesday against the Cleveland Indians. For now, he's sulking everything in.
"I'm very happy and emotional to be part of such a big league," Severino said in Spanish, his native language. "And it was overwhelming to contribute."
The young phenom played outstanding during his first major league start against the hated Red Sox last Wednesday.
"I wasn't nervous," Severino, who allowed a single run on two hits said. "This was the opportunity to make the most of the moment."
