STAATSBURG, N.Y.  — The search is expected to resume for a kayaker in the Hudson River. Police do not suspect foul play in his disappearance.

Dutchess County Sheriff's Capt. John Watterson says investigators do not suspect foul play in Saturday's incident.

He says 32-year-old Ian Jones and 22-year-old Tali Fruchtmann, both from New York City, went into the water around 10 a.m. while paddling near Mills Mansion, a historic home in the hamlet of Staatsburg.

The two were not wearing lifejackets when their kayaks overturned.

Watterson says Fruchtmann made it back to shore, but Jones was not found.

Authorities called off the search around 5:30 p.m. Saturday because of rough water conditions.
