SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Police say a 2-year-old boy who suffered a fractured skull while in the care of his babysitter has died.
Syracuse Police Lt. Eric Carr says Sunday the caregiver, 33-year-old Ramisi Truitt, has been arrested on a second-degree assault charge.
Shomer Brown was dropped off with Truitt before his father’s overnight work shift on Aug. 6.
The next morning, police received a 911 call reporting the child’s injuries.
The toddler had been hospitalized in critical condition and died Sunday morning.
Carr says a medical examiner will determine the young child’s cause of the death.
He says the case against Truitt will be presented to a grand jury for additional charges.
It was not immediately clear whether Truitt had a lawyer who could comment on her behalf.
