ELMHURST, Queens — Police are searching for a man they say sliced a woman’s neck in Queens early Tuesday morning.

The woman, 24, was opening the door to her home in the area of Hampton Street and Baxter Avenue in Elmhurst around 3 a.m., when the suspect approached her.

Police say the suspect held a sharp object to her neck and asked her several times if she lived alone. The woman screamed for help, frightening the suspect and causing him to flee.

She was taken to Elmhurst General Hospital with a cut on her neck. She is listed as being in stable condition.

The suspect is described as being in his 30s and weighing 180 pounds. He is approximately 5-foot-9.

Police have attached a sketch of the suspect.
