ELIZABETH, N.J. –Two families were left without a home after a 5-alarm fire erupted in New Jersey Tuesday, according to a fire official.

Two buildings were destroyed by a fire in Elizabeth, which started early Tuesday.

Crews say the fire started in the rear of one of the buildings and quickly spread to the building next door.

Two families lost everything but no one was hurt.

Fire crews are investigating the cause of the blaze.
