Woman, 72, with Alzheimer’s reported missing in Union City

UNION CITY, N.J. — Police are frantically searching for a woman with Alzheimer’s who went missing Monday evening in Union City.

Maria Deleon, 72, was last seen in the area of 43rd Street and Bergenline Avenue around 7 p.m.

Deleon, who police say only speaks Spanish, has Alzheimer’s and is diabetic.

She has no family members in the area where she went missing.

Deleon is decribed as being 5-foot-3 and weighing 130 pounds. Officials say she has black hair but might be wearing a sandy brown wig.

She was last seen wearing a light gray T-shirt and blue jeans.

Her family members describe her as shy and timid.
