NEW YORK — Prepare yourself and your loved ones for a combination of dangerously high heat and humidity Sunday into Monday.

National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory that will be in effect from 11 a.m. Sunday to 6 p.m. Monday. The combination of the heat and humidity will make it feel at least 95 degrees.

It will be especially dangerous during Sunday afternoon, when prolonged exposure could lead to heat exhaustion or heat stroke. To avoid this, be sure to schedule frequent rest breaks in an air conditioned or shaded place, if you have to be outside.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration reminds New Yorkers that seniors, infants, those with chronic health problems are especially at risk during this heat advisory. Also, they emphasized homes without air conditioning can be a lot hotter than outside temperatures.

To find a NYC cooling center, call 311 or go to www.nyc.gov/oem.
