BROOKLYN–Eighteen-year-old Asa Robert has been charged after police say he raped and robbed an 82-year-old woman inside her Brighton Beach residence earlier this week.

Robert was arrested Friday morning following a police chase in Bedford-Stuyvesant. He was later charged.

"I'm sorry for being in her house, but I didn't rape her," Robert said during his perp walk outside a Crown Heights precinct.

Regardless of his declaration, he faces twelve charges including rape, robbery, assault, burglary, strangulation and endangering the welfare of an elderly person, police said.

According to the NYPD, Robert entered his victim's home in Brighton Beach early Monday while she was sweeping outside. He waited inside her bedroom before he attacked her, police said.

Evidence collected at the victim’s home linked the 18-year-old to the heinous crime, including surveillance video taken near the scene.

Robert has been arrested at least eight times, including last year for gang assault and robbery.
