BEDFORD-STUVESANT, Brooklyn– The teenage suspect who allegedly raped an 82-year-old woman earlier this week was possibly seen in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn Thursday evening, police sources say.
Eighteen-year-old Asa Robert may have been spotted near Madison Street and Patchen Avenue Thursday night, sources told PIX11.
The investigation continued into midnight Friday.
Robert is wanted for raping and robbing an elderly woman inside her Coney Island home early Monday. His victim was sweeping outside when he entered without her noticing and waited inside her bedroom before he attacked, according to NYPD.
Police say evidence collected at the victim's home linked the 18-year-old to the heinous crime, including surveillance video taken near the scene.
"Usually he's not that type of person, he normally helps women, yes he has had trouble before but nothing like this," Robert's mother, who kept her identity private because of the nature of her son's crime, told PIX11.
"I am so sorry about this, I want him to turn himself in, if he can hear me turn yourself in," she said.
Robert has been arrested at least eight times, including last year for gang assault and robbery, PIX11 learned.
