BAY SHORE, N.Y. — A second man has been arrested following a fiery car crash on Long Island that killed a father and his two young children.

Newsday  reports State Police have arrested 23-year-old Demetri Stewart. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Tuesday in Suffolk County Court on charges related to helping the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash flee.

Attorney Gregory Nanton said his client is innocent.

Oneil Sharpe pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Monday to driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident. Bond was set at $500,000.

Police say 24-year-old Sharpe slammed into a sedan on the westbound Southern State Parkway early Sunday. The sedan burst into flames, killing a man and his two children. His wife — the children’s mother — escaped uninjured.
