MOTT HAVEN, Bronx– The boyfriend of a foster mother seven times over who was found dead in her apartment last week has been arrested, police said Monday.

Darrell Gibbs, 50, faces a charge of manslaughter in the death of Wanda Martin, police said.

The 53-year-old’s body was found about 8:30 p.m. July 9 in her sixth-floor apartment at the Mitchell Houses in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx, according to NYPD. The victim shared that home with the suspect, police said.

A mother to seven foster children, Martin was suffering from blunt trauma to her head and stab wounds to her back and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police said Gibbs was Martin’s live-in boyfriend, while the Daily News reports that the pair was engaged.

The day after Martin’s death, police identified Gibbs as a suspect in the case. He was taken into custody Monday.
