Hundreds celebrate Bastille Day in NYC with French food, wine

UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan– New Yorkers got a taste of French cuisine and culture without having to buy a plane ticket.

Organizers from the French Alliance Institute put together a street fair celebrating Bastille Day and giving out free food and wine.

The Upper East Side event ran from East 60th Street from Fifth Avenue to Lexington Avenue Sunday afternoon.

Bastille Day is the name given to English-speaking countries for French Independence Day, which is on July 14.
